Description

This course and fifth teaching practice experience provides opportunities for pre-service teachers to deepen their learning and reflection on teaching and demonstrate professional skills, knowledge and dispositions. Mana ako is a way of describing professional practice as a process of exploration to support learning. Pre-service teachers will develop skills of collaboration, problem-solving, perseverance, curiosity and confidence as they explore their own developing teacher identity. Practice experience is focused on leadership. The course and teaching practice experience is closely linked to other courses in the BTchLn programme.

Learning Outcomes

On the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate teaching practices consistent with the values, knowledges, skills and dispositions from relevant policy and legislation
2. Critically evaluate teaching practices that reflect the mana of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including the application of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga and mātauranga Māori.
3. Apply and evaluate sustained teaching practices that align with each of the Standards for the Teaching Profession.
4. Evaluate the effectiveness of own leadership
