This course will introduce and explore a variety of early childhood philosophies and respectful practices that uphold the mana, confidence and competence of infants and toddlers. Pre-service students will begin to critique factors that influence specialised pedagogical practices for infants and toddlers.
On the successful completion of this course, pre-service teachers will be able to: 1. Articulate specialised pedagogies and philosophies that uphold the mana, confidence and competence of infants and toddlers in bicultural Aotearoa New Zealand.2. Discuss the importance of ngā hononga relationships with people, places and things in developing pedagogical practices3. Begin to critique multiple factors that influence infant and toddler pedagogies
