This course critically examines discourses of leadership within early childhood education in Aotearoa. Pre-service teachers will analyse and critique theories and styles of leadership and tensions that arise. They will apply these understandings to practice. The course will complement learning in other courses in the Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood), including Professional Practice.
On the successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Analyse discourses and theories of leadership within early childhood education 2. Critique how current views of educational leadership influence contemporary practice 3. Articulate and defend a professional leadership stance in context

Students must attend one activity from each section.
