This course will support pre-service teachers to critically examine the various purposes for assessment and the relationships between assessment practices and teaching and learning. Through analysing intentional teaching in curriculum design pre-service teachers will critically reflect on their role as an intentional teacher. Through evaluating the complexities of Te Tiriti based / Te tiriti o Waitangi curriculum design within Aotearoa, pre-service teachers will demonstrate leadership within one area of the curriculum. This course will complement learning in other courses in the Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood), including Professional Practice.
On the successful completion of AKOE374, students will be able to: 1. Critically examine the various purposes for assessment and the relationships between assessment practices and teaching and learning.2. Analyse and critically reflect on the role of intentional teaching in curriculum design.3. Evaluate leadership within an area of Te Tiriti based curriculum design in Te Tiriti based / Te Tiriti o Waitangi Aotearoa.
