This course continues to develop students’ knowledge of evidence-based pedagogies and practices for the effective teaching and learning of English, literacy and mathematics for primary years. Students will evaluate and apply formative and summative assessment practices in English, literacy and mathematics. There will be a specific emphasis on teaching English, literacy and mathematics in the middle and upper years of primary.
On the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:1. Identify and apply culturally sustaining practices for teaching, learning, and assessing in mathematics and literacy2. Apply and justify the use of a range of effective pedagogies and practices for teaching mathematics and literacy3. Describe learning sequences and justify design decisions for learning and teaching in mathematics and literacy4. Design formative assessment opportunities in mathematics and literacy
