All pre-service teachers have their own unique taonga, passions and areas for growth. This course provides an opportunity for pre-service teachers to develop knowledge and skills necessary to inquire into student learning of mathematics, English and literacy. Through an inquiry approach students will identify, synthesise and evaluate new knowledge. Student inquiry will include a focus on analysing curriculum, pedagogy and teacher design of learning.
On the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:1. Systematically inquire into questions and issues of curriculum and pedagogical design related to diverse students’ learning in mathematics and English literacy. 2. Identify and critically evaluate pedagogical responses for diverse learners in a range of contexts. 3. Actively engage with multiple information sources to synthesise and present new knowledge that represents multiple perspectives. 4. Critically reflect on the benefits and challenges of teacher inquiry for responding to complexities and tensions in education
