Training is a systematic method of learning new skills, rules, concepts, or attitudes that can result in performance improvement. Development is the expansion of an individual’s capacity to function effectively in their present or future circumstances. In this postgraduate course, students will be learning about training and development in the context of employees in workplaces. We will review the theories, research, and practices behind adult learning, instructional design and delivery, and training evaluation. We will also discuss the role of human capital development for growth, innovation, and resilience in organisations, and explore contemporary means of fostering continuous learning in workplaces.
