Experience with advanced laboratory instrumentation; control of instrumental functions; applications of modern instrumental techniques to problems in fundamental and analytical chemistry. This course consists of a series of laboratory experiments involving instrumental measurements in Analytical Chemistry and Physical Chemistry. The experiments are organised in weekly (2 x 4 hour blocks). In some cases the experiments can be completed in one 4 hour period. In other cases the experiment will occupy 2 periods. At the beginning of each experiment a pre-lab talk will be given. This will cover any relevant theory, particular experimental difficulties, and any questions you might have about the experiment.
