Description

An introduction to the architecture, operation and application of microprocessor systems.

This course is taught by the Electrical and Computer Engineering department, on behalf of Computer Science. The course can be used as part of the 12 points in Computer Science required for a major.

The topics covered in this course include: Combinational and sequential logic, embedded processors and memory systems, microprocessor peripherals and interfacing, program development using interrupt and polling techniques, writing software for embedded systems using assembly language. Extensive examples of the design and application of microprocessors will be provided. See the course outline for more information.

Prerequisites

(1) 36 points from Mathematics, Statistics, or
Engineering Mathematics. MATH115/STAT111/STAT131/STAT112 are strongly recommended. MATH101 is not acceptable; (2) 44 points of 200-level Computer Science including COSC221 and COSC208, or
ENEL206 RP: COSC110
