Description

General principles of criminal law (liability for offences, overview of party liability, inchoate offences and general defences).

CRJU202 is designed to provided BCJ students, not also studying for a Law degree, with a satisfactory level of knowledge and understanding of the principles of criminal law necessary for persons working in, or with, the criminal justice system.

Learning Outcomes

  • A successful student will, by the end of the course, be able to:
  •  Demonstrate an understanding of the general principles of criminal law;
  •  Demonstrate an understanding of how these principles and features will be applied in individual cases;
  •  Engage in critical analysis of issues where the current law poses particular difficulties for individuals concerned with the criminal justice process and for criminal justice professionals.
