Learning Design Principles

This course provides learners with a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental principles and practices of learning design. Learners will explore the historical context and evolution of learning design, as well as its application across various educational and training settings. The course will delve into key learning theories, such as behaviourism, cognitivism, and constructivism, and examine their implications for instructional design practice. Throughout the course, learners will explore a range of teaching and learning strategies and learn to select and apply them based on learner needs and content requirements. The course will also cover important topics such as multimedia learning principles, technology integration, and designing for learner engagement and motivation. Learners will develop skills in creating culturally responsive and inclusive learning materials that incorporate Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to promote accessibility and equity. By the end of the course, learners will be able to evaluate and evaluate learning design models in the development of effective and engaging learning experiences. They will also reflect on their own professional development goals and develop strategies for lifelong learning and continuous improvement in their instructional design practice.
