This course will engage students in authentic learning experiences as they explore an educational challenge in their own context. Drawing on design-based research the course engages with theories, models and processes for instruction and learning design, and explores concepts around learner experience design and design thinking to understand and develop effective digital practices and learning design solutions. As a community of practice, students help guide the course focus, through identification and presentation of relevant issues in their own education or training contexts before carrying out an independent project to enhance both their professional practice and the theoretical understandings of digital education. Given the authentic learning focus, the course is suitable for educators in all phases of education and training, including early childhood, schools and industry training and community organisations.
This course is focused on critically examining the role and impact of digital technology on educational practice. Within this course you will explore the literature and examine your own practice around the integration of technology for effective teaching and learning.Drawing on Design-Based Research (DBR) approaches the course will guide you on exploring how digital technology can be effectively integrated into the learning context to support learning outcomes. Since the course is open to all educators, with many in different contexts, it is expected that a range of different approaches and technologies will be explored throughout this course. Therefore, a fundamental part of this course will be sharing your own explorations and learnings with others to build a community of practice (CoP).
