This professional practice course is compulsory for BTchLn students. It presents the opportunity for the student to apply, develop and demonstrate the theoretical and practical learning outcomes from College-based courses, in particular the co-requisite Professional Studies course, while under the professional supervision of a registered classroom teacher and a College lecturer.
LEARNING OUTCOMESThe learning outcomes for this course are drawn from each student’s set of Curriculum and Professional Education courses, and match those of the co-requisite Professional Studies course.By the end of this course successful students will have:1. used the design process to plan for, implement, assess and evaluate a series of lessons with a group/class in at least three essential learning areas.2. observed, planned for, implemented, assessed and evaluated children’s learning in the essential learning areas of English and Mathematics.3. assumed full management of the learning of a whole class for at least three consecutive mornings supported by associate teacher planning.4. developed constructive professional relationships with colleagues, parents and pupils.5. used critical reflection skills to assess current and future professional needs and development
