Description

This course introduces mathematical and mechanical principles of human motion, and the anatomy and control structures of the central nervous system.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to:
Describe planes, levers, axes, joint and muscle actions using anatomical terminology in a sporting context
Apply trigonometric and algebraic mathematical concepts to human movement
Identify the structure, function and design of the nervous control systems of the body.
Classify neurones and synapses according to structure, function and type.
Describe the structure and function of the spinal cord.
Identify the sense organs that facilitate movement.
Identify and describe the mechanism of specific reflex movements.
