Description

This course examines the different components of fitness. It examines the human body's acute response and adaptation to exercise. Furthermore, it reviews the current methods of assessing these components.

This course examines how the body responds to exercise acutely and chronically. It requires students to demonstrate understanding of the energy systems and the components of fitness. Current methodology of assessing these variables is examined.

For all coaches, exercise physiology is an important area as it provides the fundamental knowledge on which exercise and training are based.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to:
Describe and investigate the structure and function of the human energy systems.
Analyse and assess the components of fitness...
Investigate the acute response of the human body to a single bout of exercise.
Investigate the physiological adaptations by the human body chronic exposure to exercise.
Identify and analyse how the principles of training can be utilised to achieve short-term physiological goals.
Discuss and explain the relationship between physical activity and health.
