This course is an introduction to the basic sport psychology theory and techniques used for maximising performance and satisfaction in physical activity.

This course is an introduction to basic sport psychology theory and techniques used for maximising performance and satisfaction in physical activity.

There is recognition that psychological factors can have a profound influence on participation in and performance of physical activity.  Sport psychology is a vital tool used in all sport coaching.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to:
Identify and discuss the role of the sport psychologist/mental skills trainer
Demonstrate an understanding of theory behind psychological skills training.
Demonstrate the selection and application of appropriate sport psychology techniques in the context of theoretical coaching situations.
Recognise limitations in terms of the application of sports psychology techniques.
