This course focuses on socialisation in sport and also addresses participants' issues and their influence and involvement in sport.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:Discuss and evaluate educational philosophies and the purpose of sport for all.Examine and discuss the socialisation process of sport.Analyse media as a socialising agent. Examine the construction of sporting identity.Examine the impact of significant others on the sporting environment Critically analyse significant others’ perception of success and failure.Critically analyse the implications of adult structuring of children’s sport.Identify and discuss participant barriers in sport.Identify and evaluate equity issues for participants in sport.Examine talent identification and its role in sport.Discuss legal responsibilities and safety issues for participants in sport.
