Additional Course Outline Information

Academic integrity

All forms of cheating and dishonest practice are taken seriously and penalties will result. Students should refer to Regulation J of the General Course and Examination Regulations.

Assessment and grading system

This course is competency based.
A student will receive both formative and summative assessment during their teaching practice. Formative assessment is done informally through verbal feedback or on the written end-of-week-report. The last week and final report summary in the Record Book will be summative.

Attendance

It is expected that students will be in attendance on placement five days each week for a minimum of six hours contact time per day.

In cases of unavoidable absence from the centre placement, student must inform the Teaching Practice office and the Associate. This should be done before the due time of arrival at the centre, or as soon thereafter as possible.

The student may be required to make up any observations or other set tasks by a further visit to the centre in his/her own time.

In a 2 week professional practice, make up time will be required for more than 1 day absent.

Evaluation

Class evaluation will occur either part way through the course or on completion of the course.

Requests for extensions

Resubmissions

If a 'Fail' grade for teaching practice (TP) is received, the student's report will be moderated. If a repeat TP is advised the student will re-enrol and complete within the next TP dates. The student will not be able to fit in three teaching practices during the year. Each teaching practice must be passed before the student can advise to the next TP.

Aegrotat considerations

Students should refer to Regulation H of the General Course and Examination Regulations.

Aegrotat regulations make it unlikely that an Aegrotat Pass can be awarded for Professional Practice unless there are extreme circumstances. NB No aegrotat will be given for a final year Professional Practice.
