Description

This is a 200 level compulsory course that focuses on the practical application of the theoretical knowledge gained in College courses and is closely linked to Professional Studies 2. Teaching Practice provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate an understanding of the responsibilities of the early childhood teacher in recognising and honouring the articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the principles of Te Whaariki.

Learning Outcomes

By the conclusion of the course students will be able to:

1 Demonstrate a commitment to professional development by setting, reflecting upon and evaluating progress towards appropriate personal and professional goals.
2 Demonstrate professional qualities at a satisfactory level or above.
3 Demonstrate development towards achieving Year 2 competencies.
4 Develop an understanding of administration skills related to the management of centres.
5 Demonstrate skills of reflective practice.
6 Identify goals and strategies for developing the competencies and professional qualities for EDTP212 and EDTP214.
