Description

This course will explore ways in which well-being, resilience, and positive developmental trajectories may be supported and promoted from infancy through adolescence. Current research and theoretical models will be used to explore a number of critical issues related to health and well-being in a New Zealand context from developmental, educational, positive psychology and social emotional wellbeing perspectives.

EDUC204 integrates key theories and evidence-based research within developmental, educational, and positive psychology. What is well-being? What is resilience? How do children and adolescents cope? And how might they thrive? This course explores these thought-provoking questions (and more!) by exploring a variety of educational contexts from the classroom to informal learning environments. EDUC204 takes a holistic perspective to identify supportive conditions that promote academic achievement and personal well-being in Aotearoa New Zealand and around the world.

Planning to major or minor in Education? Please keep in mind that EDUC103 is a required course for both qualifications.
