Description

An introduction to the architecture, operation and application of microprocessor systems.

This course is taught by the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, on behalf of Physics and Astronomy. The course can be used as part of the 12 points in Electronics required for a major.

The topics covered in this course include: Combinational and sequential logic, embedded processors and memory systems, microprocessor peripherals and interfacing, program development using interrupt and polling techniques, writing software for embedded systems using assembly language. Extensive examples of the design and application of microprocessors will be provided. See the course outline for more information.

Entry to this course is subject to the approval of the Head of Department. Students who have passed the following courses will be admitted automatically.
