Description

Research for innovative building designs. Case studies of integrated building design solutions. Individual and team research and design projects.

This research and design course applies advanced knowledge of integrated building design and research methods gained in other courses in the programme to a major design project. Learning includes individual and team work.

The course applies knowledge gained from research and other courses in the programme to a major design project that integrates multiple performance objectives into whole building design.

Learning Outcomes

A student who successfully completes this course should be able to apply advanced knowledge of building design and research methods to integrated building design projects.

Assessment

Preliminary Design Report (Phase 1)
Percentage of grade: 45%

Developed Design Report (Phase 2)
Percentage of grade: 35%

Oral presentations (2 @ 10% each)
Percentage of grade: 20%

Total: 100%

Assessment will be based on two oral presentations and reports at the end of Phases 1 and 2.
Assessment will be based on clarity of communication and presentation of design ideas and challenges, and the quality of design notes
