Description

Systems concepts and the context of engineering decisions. Engineering ethics. Mangement of people, projects and organisations in the construction industry.

Learning Outcomes

  • This course will enable students to:
  • use models of motivation, leadership, groups, communication and culture to understand the relationships between the members of an organisation,
  • gain knowledge of the use of contracts and delivery methods in engineering
  • develop an ability to make informed business decisions regarding the operation of a construction company
  • have an understanding of the strategy of engineering companies and the role of entrepreneurship
  • gain practical knowledge on project planning, scheduling, monitoring and control
  • gain knowledge ion ‘running’ a construction firm through participation in the exercise Enginuity
