Introduction to Electrical and Computer Engineering design principles. Electronic circuit simulation leading to a design-and-build project including circuit design and simulation, printed circuit board design, and construction of a working device with documentation. Documentation preparation.

Topics covered include:
● Mechanical analysis, drawing and design using Solidworks
● Circuit analysis and simulation
● PCB design and assembly
● Engineering design process

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Implement basic top-down design methodologies
2. Produce mechanical drawings and designs suitable for 3D printing
3. Perform circuit analysis, design and simulation using software tools
4. Design, construct and test a simple PCB board
5. Build and test a prototype project
6. Communicate their work in a design report.
