Extended Essay
The Extended Essay provides an opportunity for BA (Honours) and first-year MA students to undertake an in-depth study of areas of special interest under the supervision of a staff member. If you are energetic, self-motivated, academically curious and have a burning desire to follow up a particular topic not otherwise available through course work, this may be the option for you. For enrolment purposes ENGL480 is currently described as a full year course but students who intend doing two other courses in the second semester should plan to have the essay completed by July 1. Those doing the essay in the second semester must complete it by November 1.Before you can enrol in ENGL480 you must produce a formal proposal . For this reason, if you are interested in writing an extended essay you should discuss your plans with the Honours Coordinator or an appropriate staff member as early as possible and certainly no later than enrolment week.
