This course is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and the demands of a professional finance career, emphasizing integrating technical knowledge with essential workplace skills. In addition to exposing students to practical aspects of core finance concepts, this course will also focus on developing students' skills in communication, presentation and group work, enabling students to apply their learning directly to real-world scenarios. This is a self-directed course where students are presented a portfolio of learning modules, both compulsory and optional, offered by third-party providers (e.g. CFA® Institute, Bloomberg, SAS® Institute) and in-house. Most modules have built-in assessments. Students write a journal entry of each completed module and write a self-reflection of the overall learnings in the course. Through hands-on exercises and tailored feedback, students gain confidence and adaptability, making them better prepared to meet the challenges of a professional finance role and succeed in the transition from campus to workplace.
