In this course, you will learn audiological assessment procedures for adults and children, including applications for Maori. In learning this, you will learn about the anatomy and physiology of the auditory and vestibular systems and the basic principles of sound. You will also conduct a hearing screening and interpret the results. You will learn about audiological management procedures for adults and children, including applications for Maori. In doing this, you will learn about hearing aids, implantable devices, and non-device management strategies. You will also learn to critically appraise research evidence relating to audiological management. Students wishing to apply for overseas registration as speech-language pathologists/speech therapists will complete an additional 12 hours of course content and conduct a hearing screening using the location specific protocols from where they wish to apply for registration.
