This course develops an understanding of the cognitive and personal factors of how people learn through a variety of methods including reflective practice, case-based learning, critical thinking, providing and receiving feedback. Through group activities and experiential learning the student will be able to apply critical thinking to delivering a range learning experiences. This course helps develop skills related to working in a clinical environment where learning occurs and include peer to peer education, patient/client education and clinical supervisory/mentoring education.
Through the course, students will:1. Critically review selected education themes and methodology as applicable to health professionals, identifying how they can be applied to an area of clinical practice 2. Deliver a culturally safe educational activity to peers incorporating a current learning style theory and provide peer feedback to others 3. Critically examine the role of a clinical supervisor in a clinical setting 4. Explore own position relating to a current issue in clinical education, training, or supervision
