Description

This course provides advanced training in motivating behaviour change, including theory, research and practice, with particular emphasis on motivational interviewing.

The course includes two 1-day block classes and work integrated learning, with a particular emphasis on the latter to develop MI skills. Students may attend in-person in Christchurch or online via Zoom.

Learning Outcomes

  • Following completion of the course students will be expected to demonstrate an ability to:

  • Accurately code practitioner and client behaviour in MI conversations
  • Skilfully apply MI in practice with a range of clients
  • Accurately reflect on their own MI practice.
