Acute and Long Term Health Care

This course introduces students to core knowledge and skills that all registered nurses require in their nursing practice. It will provide foundational information, knowledge, and skills to care for adults. It builds on students' developing bioscience knowledge, providing an understanding of pathophysiology and disease processes together with the management of major physical changes and their impact in relation to acute, chronic, rehabilitative, and palliative care phases. Students will learn to evaluate and apply assessment frameworks in response to rapidly changing situations and the deteriorating patient and become familiar with core modes of investigation and intervention.
