Learning Outcomes

After successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

* Demonstrate an understanding of what are business information systems (IS), the role of IS in business including how IS can be used to deliver business value, support business strategy, and enhance decision-making.
* Demonstrate an understanding of key business processes, the IT systems that support these processes (e.g. Collaboration Systems, ERP, CRM, Business Analytics, AI, etc) and the IS development process.
* Recognise various aspects, technologies and trends associated with eBusiness and the Internet (e.g.
Web 3.0, social networking)
* Discuss key issues associated with managing IS in organisations (e.g. IS security, ethical and privacy issues).
* Describe key concepts, components, technologies and selection criteria associated with the selection and use of IS (e.g. hardware, software, sustainable infrastructures).
* Describe and apply key database concepts to organising, managing and using data in a database
* Gain competence with presentation, spreadsheet/data analytics and database software (e.g., MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Access).
* Use good presentation skills to create and deliver a professional presentation to an audience.
