Description

The course involves a detailed study of the law relating to sale of goods, consumer guarantees, fair trading and other consumer protection legislation.

This course deals with the law relating to contracts for the sale of goods (including the Sale of Goods Act 1908), as well as aspects of consumer protection law (including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986).

Although Laws 331 is not a prerequisite for Laws 332, students are strongly recommended to complete Laws 331 before enrolling in Laws 332.

Learning Outcomes

The course aims to assist students to develop an understanding of the everyday transaction of sale and to recognise and analyse the property interests which are associated with it.  It is intended also to foster an appreciation of the effect and policy of current consumer protection legislation from both theoretical and practical points of view.
