Description

Honours Dissertation

The objectives for the course are for students to be able to demonstrate that they can:
•  Write a 1,200 word research proposal on a legal topic; and
•  Orally present and defend a research proposal; and
•  Write a 12,000 word (excluding referencing footnotes) dissertation on a legal topic to the highest Honours level.

Subject to approval of the Head of Department.

There may be two items of assessment for Laws 430, a 1,200 (exclusive of referencing footnotes) word research proposal and a 12,000 (exclusive of referencing footnotes) word research paper. Please note there is also a terms requirement:

The research proposal will be assessed on a pass/fail basis in accordance with the assessment criteria set out below. You must pass this item of assessment in order to pass the course. The grade you receive for your research paper will be the overall grade you receive for the course, assuming you received a pass for your research proposal.

The assessment will be confirmed at the commencement of the course.
