A comprehensive introduction to the Treaty of Waitangi. Topics include: the origins of the Treaty in early Maori and European contact, debates on the Treaty's place in politics, the Treaty's place in law, the place of the Treaty in modern Aotearoa/New Zealand and public policy today. This course will also be useful for students in other disciplines who wish to understand the background of Treaty issues.
