MBAM627 Inclusive Leadership and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Course Description:This course is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge to become an inclusive leader. As such, we will discuss optimal ways to learn about, plan for, encourage, and manage diversity in organizations. We will analyze the realistic, business, and moral arguments for diversity. You will learn about the many ways in which marginalized individuals experience workplace bias, and you will learn about bias-free strategies to recruit, select, and retain future and diverse talent. Additionally, you will work on a group project with an actual organization to hone your inclusive leadership skills and focus on enhancing DEI initiatives and/or reduction of bias. This active-learning course relies on the latest empirical research and provides practical skills for managing tomorrow's workforce.
Course Goals:1. Gain a knowledge base concerning current discrimination research and the arguments for and against the pursuit of organizational diversity2. Engage in self-assessment and learn about beliefs related to promoting and preventing diversity initiatives3. Gain knowledge about and a hands-on opportunity to use a diversity and inclusion toolkit4. Engage in a group project that gives you real-world experience leading a workforce to greater inclusion and less bias.
