Business research methods including statistical and qualitative approaches are introduced. Students will develop the knowledge and skills required to undertake academic and professional research in the field of business.
Students will be able to:1. Demonstrate a highly-developed understanding of accounting and/or management and/or business information systems as areas for advanced study and research.2. Demonstrate an advanced understanding of business research methods at the conceptual or meta-level and be able to translate this understanding into practical, critical and strategic thinking within the professional accounting and/or management and/or business information systems disciplines. 3. Critically consider various research designs, broad methodologies, frameworks, techniques and models and apply the most appropriate to specific accounting and/or management and/or business information systems research contexts. 4. Critically consider specific business research analytical tools and apply the most appropriate to specific business research design. 5. Compile, critically analyse, interpret and apply statistical data. 6. Prepare a research project proposal focusing on an area of accounting and/or management and/or business information systems which exhibits the aforementioned tools and designs.
