Description

Introduction to the study of individual and group behaviour in organisations in New Zealand, within the context of a global economy.

The course is taught in two parts. In the first part we examine individual-level topics such as personality differences; theories of motivation and learning; and stress management.

We then move on to discuss team and organisational-level processes, including group dynamics and teamwork; decision-making, communication, power and conflict management; organisational structure and design; organisational culture; and change and innovation.

Prerequisites

(1) MGMT101; (2) 18 points 100-level MGMT or MSCI courses.

Restrictions:
You may not enrol for this course if you have been credited with a pass in BSAD 201, MGMT 201 or MGMT206. The class size is limited to 50 students, with enrolments being accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.

Relationship to Other Courses:
This course is a prerequisite for MGMT301, MGMT303, MGMT304, MGMT305, MGMT308, MGMT309, and MGMT330.

Grading:
The various pieces of assessment may be scaled to determine a final grade and 50% should not be regarded as a pass mark.
