The course aims to develop students' performance and rehearsal skills in one or more music ensembles ranging from large - such as orchestra (CYO), Consortia, UC Gamelan Ensemble - to small ensembles such as 3-piece contemporary bands or chamber groups.
The course aims to develop students’ performance and rehearsal skills in one or more music ensembles ranging from large—such as orchestra (CYO), Consortia, UC Gamelan Ensemble—to small ensembles such as three-piece contemporary bands or chamber groups. Note that these ensembles comprise a mix of 100, 200 and 300 level performance students, all of whom demonstrate abilities in a range of instrumental and musical skills. In addition to their base set of skills, students will also demonstrate abilities and experience based upon their level of enrolment corresponding to early, intermediate and advanced stages of development.
Developed technical and ensemble performance skills; Developed an understanding of one’s individual capacity to contribute to an ensemble performance; Knowledge of repertoire for the ensemble; Experience of public performing skills and an enhanced engagement with the audience and stakeholder community; Skills for setting and achieving goals collectively, time management, preparation, persistence and self-motivation.
This course will provide students with an opportunity to develop the Graduate Attributes specified below:

Applicants will either be accepted on the basis of their audition for Performance courses, oron the basis of a successful short audition with the Course co-ordinator or their delegate.

Student workload (150 hours) will be allocated to:• 48 hours attending rehearsals and Performance Workshops; • 3 hours preparing for oral presentation;• 24 hours dress rehearsal and concert performance; and• 75 hours self-directed practice.
