Description

The course aims to provide significant performance and rehearsal experiences in one or more music ensemble(s) ranging from large - such as orchestra (CYO), Consortia, or UC Gamelan Ensemble - to small ensembles such as 3-piece contemporary bands or chamber groups.

The course aims to provide significant performance and rehearsal experiences in one or more music ensemble(s) ranging from large—such as orchestra (CYO), Consortia, or UC Gamelan Ensemble—to small ensembles such as three-piece contemporary bands or chamber groups.  

Note that these ensembles comprise a mix of 100, 200 and 300 level performance students, all of whom demonstrate abilities in a range of instrumental and musical skills. In addition to their base set of skills, students will also demonstrate abilities and experience based upon their level of enrolment corresponding to early, intermediate and advanced stages of development.

Timetable Note

Student workload (150 hours) will be allocated to:
• 48 hours attending rehearsals and Performance Workshops;
• 3 hours preparing for oral presentation;
• 24 hours dress rehearsal and concert performance; and
• 75 hours self-directed practice.
