Description

This course provides students with advanced technical skills, musical knowledge and understanding through performance on an instrument or voice together with supporting documentation. The course involves weekly individual 1-hour lessons, performance classes, and ensemble training. Students will gain further knowledge of the repertoire for their particular instrument/voice and undertake a concert performance at the end of the semester.

MUSA342 or MUSI341 with a grade of B+ or higher, and approval of Head of School

Assessment

Assessment Due Date Percentage  Description
Examination 1: Mid Year Recital 40% Mid-year concert performance (scheduled in June) with programme notes. The performance should be up to 45 minutes duration, include one major work, and demonstrate a working understanding of projecting a performance in different styles.
Examination 2: Full Recital Programme 60% Final concert performance (scheduled October/November) with programme notes. The performance should be up to 50 minutes duration of material different from the mid-year performance, include one major work, and demonstrate an imaginative and perceptive capacity to perform in a range of styles.
