Professional and Community Engagement (PACE) internship courses provide an opportunity for practical application of disciplinary theory, skills, and knowledge during an internship in an approved business or community organisation. Professional and Community Engagement (PACE) internship courses provide an opportunity for practical application of disciplinary theory, skills, and knowledge during an internship in an approved business or community organisation. PACE 490 is a hybrid course where you will develop your professionalism, broaden the application of your academic discipline, and utilise that knowledge in the workplace internship.In PACE490, you will spend 100 hours working on a project for a New Zealand business or a community organisation; meet weekly, face-to-face, with your course facilitator; and complete workshop assessments designed to enhance your critical engagement with your career journey. PACE students learn to provide productive outcomes, develop strategies, and enhance their leadership, research, and employability skills. Course aims are to build leadership skills within professional identity; build capacities for understanding the NZ and International workplace; aid in completion of an academic and workplace project that directly impacts student success; develop awareness of transferable employability competencies; and, provide a space to analyse and reflect upon the internship experience for their own professional identity and personal development.
