A professional internship placement.
The programme provides students with a placement within a business or organisation to gain experience in a professional workplace environment and develop the skills and competencies to gain a competitive edge upon graduation. Students work with a host organisation throughout the programme, complete a related academic research element, and receive personal development and skills training. Students have worked on a diverse range of placements and projects including analysing social media, event organisation, policy analysis, media strategy development, marketing and fundraising, oral history research, community and social development. We can also cater for more specialised placements related to all disciplines, especially for international students. Note: Enrolment is by application to the PACE programme and an interview, and permission from the PACE Team. Preferred Application deadline: 10th January 2020. Applications received beyond this date will be considered on a case by case basis.More information can be found on the course link. Specific placements cannot be guaranteed and are based on the most suitable match for the student’s skills set.
By the end of the course, students will be able to: - Research, plan, present and implement a professional work related project and demonstrate an understanding of professional expectations and ethics;-Demonstrate advanced technical and/or theoretical knowledge in a discipline or practice, involving a critical understanding of the underpinning key principles;- Use a self-reflective approach to analyse complex and unpredictable problems and devise creative and effective solutions;- Critically evaluate project outcomes and identify long term professional goals;- Have a strong understanding of the relationship between academic study and professional practice;- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of bi-cultural and multicultural respect in their professional practice and in the community.

As this course is a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) programme there are certain professional expectations required throughout the course. Students are expected to:• Initiate and maintain contact with the Site Adviser and Academic Adviser (where applicable) • Maintain contact with the Internship Coordinator and inform of all developments• Check University email daily to keep up to date with developments and changes to meetings • Inform the Internship Coordinator of any changes to your work, academic or personal situation• Be responsible for the submission of all work under your own time management
