An introduction to experimental research in behavioural neuroscience and behavioural pharmacology. The course will include class research exercises designed to clarify relationships between brain function and behaviour.
DUE TO UNEXPECTED EVENTS THIS COURSE IS NOT OFFERED IN 2006This course is designed to provide students exposure to contemporary thinking concerned with neurobiology of human psychological and behavioural disorders. Using a lecture/seminar format the material will focus on human and animal research and will cover the neural basis and treatment of psychiatric and psychological disturbances associated with: drug abuse (e.g., alcohol, cocaine), depression, schizophrenia, anxiety-related disorders, epilepsy and CNS degenerative disorders. There will be an opportunity for interested students to carry out a laboratory-based research project.PSYC333 Biological Psychology is strongly recommended for this course.
