***PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS COURSE IS COMPULSORY***

Learning Outcomes

SOCI470 is designed to enable students to develop and conduct a sociological research project under the supervision of a sociology staff member.

Prerequisites

Subject to approval of the Head of Department.

Course Coordinator

Jarrod Gilbert

Assessment

The project will be undertaken and completed in semester 2, 2013.
Given the range and diversity of 470 projects each student and his/her supervisor will develop a specific time-line at the beginning of semester 2. However, in very general terms, it is recommended that in Term 3 students produce a literature review, complete a Human Ethics application (if required), collect their data (for example, conduct interviews or gather archival materials) and begin analysis and writing. In Term 4 the focus is on analysis and writing up the research project.
