This course provides an understanding of nutritional principles for healthy living and maintaining and improving sporting performance. The course will identify recommended nutritional practices for various populations including athletes, recreational exercisers, and groups with specific nutritional needs. The use of nutritional supplements in sporting performance will also be examined.
1. Classify macronutrients and micronutrients.2. Identify the principles of energy balance and fluid balance.3. Identify nutritional guidelines for healthy living.4. Apply nutritional guidelines for the management of nutritional deficiencies.5. Analyse the issues arising from the use and misuse of nutritional supplements.
This course will provide students with an opportunity to develop the Graduate Attributes specified below:

Students must attend one activity from each section.
Note the above Intensive Block labs are run in Christchurch on campus, offered over 2 days from 28 and 29 August. Students need to be physically present for these in-person labs.
