Description

This course provides the application of sport coaching theory to practice. Students will apply and evaluate aspects of coaching pedagogy and exercise science during coaching sessions with a primary school team, through a season of practices and interschool games.

Learning Outcomes

1. Plan and implement a series of coaching sessions relevant to primary school aged children  
2. Apply appropriate pedagogical knowledge and motor skill learning theory to primary aged children
3. Evaluate personal coaching effectiveness through the use of reflective practice

Prerequisites

1) Enrolment in BSpC degree, or
2) Approval of Programme Coordinator based on police vetting

Reflective Portfolio 05 Sep 2017 100% Coaching portfolio consisting of: 4 associate teacher observations and documented feedback, submission of weekly coaching sessions plans and reflections, final associate teacher report.
