This course provides students with an understanding and appreciation of the position of strength and conditioning coaches in both occupational and sporting environments. Practical skills using modern strength and conditioning techniques and technologies will be developed. Students will be required to coach and analyse the performance of two participants from an occupational / sport perspective through the duration of the course.
This course will enable students to gain practical experience and confidence to prescribe, monitor and evaluate fitness training and conditioning programmes. Evaluate the latest fitness trends and recognise gimmicks and fads. Learning in SPCO241 will contribute knowledge required for mastery of the requirements for the NCSA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) qualification.This course will be on interest to athletes, personal trainers, and coaches who wish to grow their knowledge and practical skills around Strength and Conditioning training to support their own training or that of athletes they are coaching.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:1. Understand the rationale and place of strength and conditioning coaches working with individuals in occupational and sporting environments, and the interactions with other coaching / medical support staff members;2. Apply modern technologies and methods in analysing movement quality;3. Be able to demonstrate and execute key exercise movements and provide insightful feedback to correct technique;4. Be able to effectively present strength and conditioning information to other coaching staff and, acting in a coaching context, deliver effective information to clients;5. Develop measurable and progressive strength and conditioning programmes, with quantifiable results.
Any 60 points at 100 level from any subject, orany 15 points at 100 level in SPCO.
