Description

This course explores contemporary practice and recent research developments in Sport Coaching. It encourages students to adopt an open mindset toward coaching and engage in informed reflective practice. Students will critically examine their existing coaching beliefs and how these shape their coaching behaviours. The course focuses on coaching for learning rather than simply what to coach, emphasizing human developmental psychology and pedagogy. Planning for learning and managing learners is a major focus of the course. Students will be introduced to a spectrum of coaching styles - from direct instruction to problem-solving approaches - with an emphasis on direct instruction and management techniques. Learning is enriched through practical workshop experiences where students act as both learners and coaches.
