Description

This course will be of interest to coaches, personal trainers and student athletes who wish to grow their knowledge and practical skills around Strength and Conditioning training to support their own training or that of athletes/clients they are coaching. Students will develop an understanding and appreciation of the position of fitness trainers in both occupational, health promotion and sporting environments. Practical skills using modern strength and conditioning techniques and technology will be developed. Students are required to demonstrate, coach and analyse performance.

Learning Outcomes

1 Effectively communicate applied strength and conditioning knowledge to other coaching staff and deliver effective coaching information to clients.
2 Accurately demonstrate key exercise movements and provide appropriate feedback for correct technique to clients and other coaching staff.
3 Use modern training technologies to analyse movement quality and provide accurate data for clients.
4 Describe the scope of practice of fitness coaches working in occupational, health and sporting environments and strategies for working with individuals from backgrounds including Māori and Pasifika.
