Description

This course develops the capacity to locate, understand, and apply evidence in the context of sport. Students will critically examine evidence from quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research, and will learn about what constitutes knowledge and evidence from the perspective of different world views (e.g., Matauranga Maori) and research traditions. The course introduces foundational principles of research including the generation of questions, the selection of appropriate methods, and the collection, analysis, and presentation of information. As part of this course, students will identify a particular topic, generate key questions to answer, search for and locate evidence, assess the quality of the evidence, and develop a presentation targeted for a specific audience.
